2017 Happy Holidays

San Francisco State University

It is our pleasure to share that Mary has been inducted into the San Francisco State University Alumni Hall of Fame in a ceremony and dinner hosted by university President Leslie E. Wong at the Ritz-Carlton San Francisco. Congratulations to fellow inductees Mourad Lahlou, (B.A., 93) and Norman Schwartz, (B.A., 74).  Also honored were Jim Wunderman (B.A., ’84), Alumnus of the Year,  Kim Mazzuca (B.A., ’85 and M.S., ’90), Distinguished Alumna Service Award and Colonel John H. Kern, President’s Distinguished Medal.

Eddie Adams Workshop XXX

We are  pleased to announce that Mary will be a Team Leader at the Eddie Adams Workshop XXX in October 2017! In honor of this 30th year anniversary, just about every team leader is former student of EAW. Mary was part of the 1990 class.

2017 World Press Photo Jury

The World Press Photo Foundation is pleased to announce the members of the 2017 Digital Storytelling Contest juries and the 2017 Photo Contest juries. Mary is honored to be a member of the General Jury that will meet January- February in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Mary F. Calvert is committed to using photography to affect meaningful social change and is known for producing work on gender based, human rights issues. For her work on sexual assault in the US Military, she is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2016 Getty Images Grant for Editorial Photography and 1st Prize, Long Term Projects in the 2016 World Press Photo Contest, as well as the 2014 Alexia Foundation Women’s Initiative Grant, and the 2013 Canon Female Photojournalist Award. She has won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award twice and is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist in Feature Photography.
