Welcome to the launch of my blog and website! maryfcalvert.com features a mix of corporate, editorial, and humanitarian photography and I hope you enjoy looking through my galleries and reading my blogs. All of this would not have been possible without the brilliance of Jessica D’Amico of JustJess: Websites that Work. Thank you Jess for your tireless work and patience. Of giving me guidance when I had no ideas and listening to me when I did. If any of you need to kick up your site to the next level, I urge you to call Jess.
Recently, The New York Times started running ads touting their new Amazon/Kindle application that included a picture I made for them on Capitol Hill.
A few months before, I was assigned by The New York Times to cover the Wall Street Reform Bill vote and the subsequent press conference with Sen. Chris Dodd, D-Conn. and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev. Sen. Reid was feeling particularly buoyant after the vote. Sen. Dodd’s daughter Gracie accompanied her dad to the press conference on crutches.
Sen. Dodd always seems to show a lot of emotion and passion for his job and that makes photographing him very rewarding.
Sen. Scott Brown, R-Mass. speaks to a reporter, left while right, an aid from his office Gail Gitcho, records the interview following the Wall Street Reform Bill vote. Brown was one of three Senate Republicans to vote for the bill. The U.S. Capitol is a great backdrop for the politics and history we cover in Washington, D.C.
